♟️ Tania Sachdev Criticizes Delhi Govt for Ignoring Chess Players; CM Responds ♟️

Tania Sachdev, part of India’s gold medal-winning Women’s Team at the 2024 Chess Olympiad, voices frustration over the lack of recognition in Delhi.

"States that celebrate their champions inspire excellence. Sadly, Delhi hasn’t taken this step," wrote Sachdev on X, urging the government to support chess athletes.

Despite winning a team bronze and individual medal in 2022 and Olympiad gold in 2024, Sachdev says there’s been no acknowledgment from the Delhi government.

Tania tagged Delhi CM Atishi Marlena and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, hoping for better support to nurture chess talent in the capital.

CM Atishi responded, assuring that provisions are in place and invited Tania for discussions on improving chess in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin celebrated D Gukesh’s historic world title with a ₹5 crore reward, showcasing state-level support for chess.

Sachdev’s appeal sheds light on the need for equitable recognition of chess players across all states in India.

Will Delhi take steps to support its chess players? Stay tuned!
