M3GAN 2.0 (June 27)

M3GAN 2.0 was originally scheduled for release in May 2025, however its official debut date was rescheduled to June 27, 2025. Even if there are still a lot of unannounced projects, M3GAN 2.0 will face fierce competition in that month. Pixar’s Elio, Dean DeBlois’ live-action How to Train Your Dragon, the eagerly awaited return of the infected in 28 Years Later, and the most recent racing film, F1 starring Brad Pitt, all compete with M3GAN 2.0 on the same day. Fans of M3GAN will, in all honesty, be hoping that the A.I. doll would use her rival-killing abilities to propel the movie to the top of the box office rankings.

28 Years Later (June 20)

28 Years Later is an upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Danny Boyle, produced by Boyle and Alex Garland, and written by Garland. It serves as the third installment in the 28 Days Later series, following 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007). The film stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes. It also marks the return of Boyle, Garland, and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle to the series, all of whom worked on the original 28 Days Later. Additionally, the film’s star, Cillian Murphy, serves as an executive producer.

The film is scheduled for release in the United Kingdom and the United States on 20 June 2025, distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It was filmed back-to-back with its sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, directed by Nia DaCosta, written by Garland, and produced by Boyle and Garland.

Elio (June 13)

Elio is an upcoming American animated science fiction adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios. It is being directed by Domee Shi and Madeline Sharafian with initial direction by Adrian Molina. The film stars the voices of Yonas Kibreab, Jameela Jamil, Brad Garrett, Zoe Saldaña, Remy Edgerly, and Shirley Henderson. It follows an eleven-year-old boy named Elio Solis (Kibreab), who accidentally becomes the intergalactic ambassador of planet Earth after being beamed up to the universe by aliens for making contact. He must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms and navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions.

A Minecraft Movie (April 4)

The beloved video game comes to life in a star-studded adventure featuring Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and Jennifer Coolidge. A must-watch for gamers and families alike.

Happy Gilmore 2 is an upcoming American sports comedy film directed by Kyle Newacheck and written by Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler. It is a sequel to Happy Gilmore (1996). Sandler, Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, Dennis Dugan, Allen Covert, and Ben Stiller reprise their roles from the original film.

Ballerina (June 6)

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina (or simply Ballerina) is an upcoming American neo-noir action thriller film directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten. It is the fifth film in the John Wick franchise, serving as a spin-off set between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4. It stars Ana de Armas in the lead role, alongside Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus in supporting roles. Anjelica Huston, Lance Reddick (in his final screen appearance), Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves reprise their roles from the previous films.
Ballerina is scheduled to be released on June 6, 2025.

Wicked: For Good (Nov. 21)

Mickey 17 (March 7)

Mickey 17 is an upcoming science fiction black comedy film written, produced, and directed by Bong Joon-ho. It is based on Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel Mickey7 and features a star-studded cast, including Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.

The film is set to premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2025. Following its debut, Mickey 17 will be released theatrically by Warner Bros. Pictures, arriving in South Korea on February 28, 2025, and in the United States on March 7, 2025.

Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 25)

Marvel Comics’ legendary superhero team, the Fantastic Four, is the inspiration for the upcoming American superhero movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The movie, which is the second reboot of the Fantastic Four film series and the 37th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), was produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Directed by Matt Shakman, the film features a screenplay crafted by Jeff Kaplan, Ian Springer, Josh Friedman, Cameron Squires, Eric Pearson, and Peter Cameron. The ensemble cast includes Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the titular team, with Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles in supporting roles.

The narrative centres on the Fantastic Four as they fight to defend their 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world from Galactus’s cosmic onslaught.

The Accountant 2 (April 25)

Gavin O’Connor is the director and Bill Dubuque is the writer of the upcoming American action thriller The Accountant 2. In this follow-up to The Accountant (2016), Daniella Pineda joins the cast, while Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson reprise their roles.

The film is set to premiere at South by Southwest on March 8, 2025, before its theatrical release in the United States on April 25, 2025, distributed by Amazon MGM Studios through Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Avatar: Fire and Ash (Dec. 19)

James Cameron is directing, co-writing, co-editing, and co-producing the next epic science fiction movie Avatar: Fire and Ash. It is the third part in the Avatar film series and the follow-up to Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), and it is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

The most recent postponement of the movie’s release, which was announced on June 13, 2023, was the ninth. The new release date is set for December 19, 2025. Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, two additional sequels, are also in various stages of production and are scheduled for release in 2029 and 2031, respectively.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (TBA)

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (or simply Wake Up Dead Man) is an upcoming American mystery film written and directed by Rian Johnson. It serves as a standalone sequel to Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) and marks the third installment in the Knives Out film series. Daniel Craig returns as master detective Benoit Blanc, joined by an ensemble cast that includes Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.

The film is slated for release on Netflix in 2025.
